The 57-year-old star has been absent from TV screens ever since 'Simply Nigella' ended in 2015, but she is poised to return with a new six-part series called 'Nigella: At My Table'.

Nigella said: "I'm excited to be making this new series and to share with viewers many new recipes alongside favourites that have evolved as I've cooked them over the years.

"'At My Table' continues my celebration of home cooking, infusing everyday with pleasure and flavour. What matters most in life is the connections we have with each other and food is always at the heart of this."

Despite being one of Britain's most-loved presenters, Nigella previously admitted she never had ambitions of working in TV or with food at the outset of her career.

The brunette beauty released her first cooking book, entitled 'How To Eat', in 1998 - but she never envisioned writing another one thereafter.

Speaking in 2016, the journalist explained: "I had no intention of having a career in food.

"With my first book, I didn't think about writing another one. It's just the way it happened. I really enjoyed it, so I carried on.

But Nigella believes her ability to relate to TV viewers has helped to ensure she's enjoyed a long and prosperous career in the industry.

The food writer - who has also penned 'How to Be a Domestic Goddess' and 'Forever Summer with Nigella' - said: "If you try to pretend to be what you're not, people can smell that and you wouldn't enjoy it."
