AJ Odudu has laughed off suggestions she has romantic feelings for her 'Strictly Come Dancing' partner Kai Widdrington - insisting she is just a very good actress.

The pair set tongues wagging that they could be getting closer than just dance partners with their sensual American Smooth routine 'I Have Nothing' at the weekend, which was inspired by the movie 'The Bodyguard' - which starred Whitney Houston as singer Rachel Marron and Kevin Costner as her bodyguard Frank Farmer who she falls for.

AJ is adamant that nothing more is going on than hard work in rehearsals and first class acting for the theme, which saw the pair awarded three 9s from the judging panel.

During an interview with Zoe Ball on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, she said: "I was in character at that moment on the dance floor. I have to be! I was playing Rachel and he was playing Frank. They’re in love!”

It is Kai’s first year competing for the glitterball trophy after previously being an ensemble dancer on the BBC One ballroom show.

AJ, 33, has nothing but praise for Kai, 26, insisting he achieves a “really nice balance” of hard work and fun in rehearsals, dependent on how well she picks up the steps.

Zoe, 50, heaped praise onto AJ, backing her as one of the favourites to win and comparing her to previous "iconic" winner Alesha Dixon.

A delighted AJ admitted she is loving every moment of her 'Strictly' journey so far, and he favourite part of the week is when she gets her outfit for Saturday night's show.

The 'Married At First Sight' host said: "I am obsessed with all my outfits. Every single week, we walk into the dressing room for our fitting, and I’m like, ‘Yeah, its perfect.'"
