The aspiring stars have become the first contestants to exit the competition during the live shows phase of the series, after Olatunji finished bottom of the public vote and Armstrong lost the sing-off against Janice Robinson.

Ayda Field, Robbie Williams and Simon Cowell all opted to save Janice from elimination, while Louis Tomlinson voted in favour of Armstrong.

Following his exit from the show, Armstrong said: "The people want what the people want."

Olatunji was similarly gracious, despite his early exit from the show.

He explained: "It was a wonderful journey and wonderful opportunity."

Ayda, 39, admitted she was "devastated" by Olatunji's exit from 'The X Factor'..

The actress - who has been married to Robbie since 2010 - previously spoke of her determination to have this year's winning act.

However, Ayda also claimed that her group are the underdogs of the competition.

She said: "I really want to win as I think both my group and I are the underdogs. On the panel, I'm the easiest to write-off, and it's really important in the world today that we have older role models.

"My guys have all taken hits in life but they're all full of passion, heart, hope and, above all, they're all kind - they deserve a shot.

"We've seen so many winners who all look the same but mine are the 100/1 Grand National outsiders, and I want them to come in."
