The 'Dear Darlin' hitmaker has proved a huge hit with viewers of the ITV singing show since he joined the programme earlier this year but he reportedly infuriated the music mogul - who helped kick start his career on the rival series 'The X Factor' in 2009 - because he didn't speak to him first.

Speaking on 'Lorraine' on Friday (23.02.18), Olly said: "A better show or a rival show? It wasn't a tough decision at all. I didn't think at any point I have to speak to someone and see if it's alright! I make decisions myself all the time with my heart and when I was offered this chance I thought what a wonderful opportunity to give someone the mentoring and help that Simon gave me."

And, although he did what he felt was right for him and his career, the 33-year-old singer hasn't heard from Simon since he accepted the job but he's adamant there's no bad blood between them.

He said recently: "I haven't heard from Simon. But you know, if he's upset, then...

"I don't believe in rivalries. 'X Factor' was an incredible part of my life and now I'm taking the next chapter and becoming a coach here on 'The Voice'. I'm loving it and there's no hard feelings from me, anyway. If he wants to call me, call me."

Olly was chosen as a mentor on 'The Voice' by bosses after they axed Gavin Rossdale -from the programme earlier this year as they didn't feel like he had the right energy.

He sits on the panel alongside Jennifer Hudson, Sir Tom Jones and Will.i.am.
