Starzplay have released the highly-anticipated trailer for the sixth season of epic series Outlander, which will premiere on the streaming service for the first time on Sunday, March 6th 2022.
Adapted from Diana Gabaldon's international best-selling book series, Season 6 is based on the events of the sixth novel, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, which follows Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) as they continue to fight for those they love.
Now living in colonial America, the pair have established a home in the New World which has been by no means an easy task; especially so while being in the wild backcountry of North Carolina during a period of dramatic political upheaval.
Though Claire knows the region is marching towards Revolution, the Frasers do all they can to maintain peace within the society, but are forced to defend their home at Fraser's Ridge, built on land granted to them by the Crown.
With the rest of their lives in mind, they're hoping to lay the foundations for as 'normal' as a future as they can grasp, but with disharmony and division among the inhabitants of the home they've created, they may soon become outsiders rejected and marginalised by their own.
There’s a heavy hinting at huge sacrifices that have to be made in the show’s upcoming episodes by our beloved characters. Will they be able to weather being in the ‘heart of the storm’, or could being in a place that doesn’t feel like home prove to be too much for Claire, Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin).
Of course, we already know that Season 6 won’t be the end for the series. A seventh season has already been picked up by STARZ and, with a ninth instalment to the book series dropping in the latter-end of 2021, we’re sure that there’s plenty of steam left in this engine to keep going for the foreseeable future.
Outlander returns to Starzplay on Sunday, March 6th 2022.
