He later became a star in London's West End, appearing in musicals such as 'Chicago' and 'Guys and Dolls'.

Elsewhere, actor Sanjeev Bhaskar recalled Darius' appearance on the TV comedy series 'The Kumars at No. 42'.

He wrote: "Sad news of Darius’ shockingly untimely passing. He was a guest on The Kumars and couldn’t have been a nicer, warmer guest with a great sense of self deprecation. (sic)"

TV presenter Lorraine Kelly also paid a glowing tribute to the late pop star.

She said: "This is really sad. Thoughts with his family and friends and everyone who loved him. A really good bloke - funny and kind and very talented."
