The 'Strictly Come Dancing' pro has had to get back in shape after piling on the pounds after tasting all of his own dishes during his multiple trial runs.

He told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "It's because I was trialling my dishes again and again. Luckily it's all gone now I'm dancing again.

"I just love to eat and to practise cooking, especially when I had the opportunity to cook desserts. I wanted to eat all of them and cook again."

On 'Strictly' AJ, 23, has to face the wrath of Craig Revel Horwood and his fellow judges Bruno Tonioli, Shirley Ballas and Darcey Bussell, but he insisted Gregg Wallace and John Torode were much scarier.

He said: "I was like a rabbit caught in headlights. On 'Strictly' I know what to anticipate, but John and Gregg were more terrifying."

He was trialling his dishes so often he managed to buy all the racks of lamb in his local villages.

She said: "I was getting through five or six racks of lamb a day and, in five days, all my local villages had run out. I had to drive to a neighbouring town to find food."

AJ will be competing with the likes of Frankie Bridge, Gemma Collins and Spencer Matthews on the cooking show, and he is set to dance alongside Paralympic swimmer Lauren Steadman in the new series of 'Strictly'.

He recently said: "I'm excited I've got Lauren, she's a really inspirational person."
