A post on the Channel 4 soap's official Twitter page made on Tuesday (17.07.18) revealed that the 'Never Gonna Give You Up' singer would be filming a scene with Daisy Wood-Davis who plays Kim Butterfield.

The guest appearance was confirmed in a photo of the day's filming schedule which showed that the actress and the singer would be on set this afternoon.

The accompanying tweet read: "O-M-G! The #RouteToRick continues, as Kim's very own BFF @rickastley is coming to #Hollyoaks today! Ahhhh! So exciting! [sic]"

Rick first became involved in 'Hollyoaks' when Daisy's character Kim was kidnapped by the murderous Ryan Knight - played by Duncan James - and left in an abandoned room in Hollyoaks High school for several months.

Assumed dead, Kim finds solace in the Rick Astley poster which hangs in the room as it has a calming effect on her when she speaks to the image which acts as reminder of the outside world.

Eventually Kim is rescued after Ryan reveals her location, but she soon returns to the room after her release to visit the poster she had befriended.

The pair sparked speculation a cameo was in the pipeline when they eventually met up earlier this month.

During a 'Hollyoaks' Facebook Live chat, Daisy, 27, said: "I've got something really exciting for you guys - I want to introduce you to someone who means a lot to me and a lot to Kim ... it's Rick!

"We're just hanging out. We're bessies now. I've had the best night ever."

Rick, 52, added: "I haven't given her up and I haven't let her down."

When asked how it feels to be Kim's guardian angel, he replied: "It feels like I'm in the right place, that's what it feels like."
