The 'Never Gonna Give You Up' hitmaker - who appeared on 'Hollyoaks' a couple of years ago despite not watching the show - admitted the ITV soap is the one he's "waiting for".

Appearing on ITV's 'This Morning' on Friday (23.10.20), he said: "I want pretty up front about [not watching], pretty honest - and they were cool about that.

"It was just a bit of a fun thing to do, to be honest. I'm waiting for the 'Coronation Street' moment, that's what I'm waiting for, you know what I'm saying?"

The 54-year-old singer described the experience of playing himself as "a bit odd", but he was happy to get involved.

He added: "It was kinda crazy! I was in one of the storylines, and then they asked me, would I just make this little cameo appearance, and I just thought it was a fun thing to do.

"I've gotta be honest - I don't actually watch the show... Being yourself in a soap, it's kind of a bit odd."

Rick's 'Hollyoaks' appearance came as part of Kim Butterfield's (Daisy Wood-Davis) exit storyline in 2018, as he met the character at the bus stop before she left the village.

Reflecting on his guest role at the time, he said: "I'd hardly call it acting, it was just a fun thing. The whole thing was really bizarre, the storyline was pretty weird.

"It's kind of a crazy storyline. They just asked me if I would do a cameo and I said, 'Of course I would.'

"It was weird but it was also kind of fun, and also just to be on set for something that's been around that long and just see the reality of it."
