The 38-year-old actor, who plays Stuart Highway in the BBC One soap, gave himself a hairline fracture while portraying his character smashing up his flat following a massive fight with Mick Carter (Danny Dyer).

Speaking on 'Lorraine', he told host Christine Lampard: "I had to trash the apartment where I live and smash down on a table, it was a small hairline fracture in a metatarsal, a footballer's injury. I had a nice schedule afterwards, got to sit down... it was fine in the end."

However, Ricky had nothing but praise for Danny, calling him an extremely "generous" actor.

He said: "It was a really lovely introduction to 'EastEnders' because I had Danny showing me around, showing me the ropes.

"He's a lovely man, such a pro. I loved seeing how he works, which is really quick.

"Very generous man and very generous actor. Always feel very supported with Danny."

Stuart and Mick have clashed on numerous occasions in recent weeks after Mick's auntie Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White) claimed he had trapped her in a boot of a car, gagged her, and written an offensive term on her back when they were youngsters.

In a recent episode, Stuart lied to some of the Albert Square residents that Tina had keyed his car in an attempt to get back at her, and he clashed with her in the laundrette and the Arches garage, before she wreaked revenge.

Tina grabbed a wrench and whacked him over the head with implement.

'EastEnders' were recently forced to defend the soap after police chiefs issued a warning to the public advising against becoming child abuse activists, after Stuart was revealed to be a paedophile-hunter.

An 'EastEnders' spokesperson said: "At no point is 'EastEnders' encouraging or glamorising predator hunting."
