The 'Let Me Entertain You' hitmaker and his spouse Ayda Field - who have children Teddy, five, and Charlton, three, together - share their Los Angeles and London homes with the actress' mother Gwen and he thinks the dynamic between them will make gripping viewing.

He told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "There's something in the making. There's a format there, it's just making sure it's the right one and the right show.

"Trust me, it will happen -- that's a show I want to watch on TV."

The trio caught the eye of TV producers thanks to Gwen's frequent appearances in funny Instagram photos and videos posted by the 44-year-old singer and his wife.

A source said: "Plans are currently in place to make sure the show gets picked up by the right channel.

"It has all the ingredients to be one of the most entertaining reality TV programmes.

"Together Ayda and Gwen are a hilarious double act and bounce off each other.

"Gwen has been featuring more regularly in Ayda and Robbie's Instagram posts and swiftly garnered something of a cult following with fans.

"Gwen spends a lot of time with Rob and Ayda and practically lives with them as they rely on her a lot.

"The idea is for them to do a fly-on-the-wall show, with an occasional cameo from Rob

"The trio have previously appeared together on Loose Women and it got such a great reaction from viewers.

"When Gwen appeared on the show trying to recreate Take That's routine for 'Pray' they were demanding to get her on more often as it was such a hit."

The news comes just a day after it was revealed Robbie is in line to be a judge on 'The X Factor' following Louis Walsh's departure.

A source said: "Robbie has always been Simon's dream signing.

"Now it appears he's finally going to get his man.

"Over the past 12 months they've become close, as have their wives who are also pals.

"There's a deal on the table and Robbie is keen to do it. The hope is that the deal is days away from being signed and announced."
