The Boyzone star has backed the fashion designer - who he married in 2015 - to join next year's series of the BBC ballroom competition, and admitted she is "a big fan".

Asked if he was scared of the 'Strictly' curse - which has been coined after several celebrity contestants started dating their professional partners following appearances on the programme - he dismissed the idea.

He told The Sun's Bizarre TV column: "Not in the slightest. She's a big fan of the show, she loves it. I can see my wife doing it. She's a great dancer."

Ronan will be stepping onto the dancefloor himself with his bandmates - Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy and Mikey Graham - for a 'Children In Need' charity special.

Mikey's dance partner Katya Jones - who is married to fellow pro Neil - was caught up in a scandal on the current series of the show, when she was pictured kissing Seann Walsh on a night out while he was also in a relationship.

Ronan - who confirmed the special edition on social media this week - will be paired up with Gordana Grandosek, while Shane and Keith will team up with Luba Mashtuk and Nadiya Bychkova respectively.

Revealing the news, he wrote on Instagram: "So excited to announce that Boyzone do Strictly for Children In Need. Tune in Nov 16th!! @bbcstrictly #ChildrenInNeed2018 (sic)"

Last year's 'Blue Peter'-themed 'Children In Need' special was won by Mark Curry and Amy Dowden, while 2016's Olympic version saw Lutalo Muhammad emerge victorious alongside Karen Clifton.
