The classical singer and the West End performer faced Stage Fright on their first night in the Castle and earned an impressive 11 out of the 12 available stars in scenes shown on Wednesday night (18.11.20).

The first of the three trials was Laughing Stocks and was worth 5 stars, where one of them had to be locked in a stock whilst the other used their mouth to fish for the punchline to the joke in a barrel.

The second was part of the "intermission" and the challenge, titled Eye Scream, saw the two of them have to distribute fish eyes to ice cream cups to win two stars on offer.

For the final of the three trials, the duo had to dance five well known tracks, all whilst having cockroaches and crickets poured into plastic trousers they were wearing.

Russell said: "I was just expecting one nasty thing but they kept coming and coming."

And giving her verdict, Ruthie added: "I'm so excited to get into the castle and really look forward to saying hello to everyone and getting to know them."

And Vernon admitted he was worried about the dynamic changing when the new campmates arrived.

He told the other nine campmates: "I've got mixed emotions at the moment. It moves the dimensions. It moves the dynamics about slightly. I would be genuinely upset if this dynamic changes."

Whilst Shane added: "There's 10 of us now, we've been together four days. We know each other really well. We're eating, sleeping, laughing, crying together and for another two people to come in you're always frightened. It's going to change the dynamics and we were kind of concerned about that."

During the show, it was also revealed that Jordan North will be taking on the next trial, Trapped Door.
