The 'X Factor' contestants may not have had much luck when it came to singing on the talent show last year but his career in the music industry is far from over as he's been approached by record executives to pen tracks for some household names.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper he's been talking to "major" publishing companies about writing songs for other artists after generating "a lot of interest" from his appearance on 'The X Factor' last year. He's working with some pretty decent people in the industry and has interest now from major publishing companies.

"He's putting his own music career on hold to write other songs for others. He's been working with signed writers and producers and everyone think he's super talented."

The 20-year-old heartthrob - who is romancing former rival Emily Middlemas - has remained tight-lipped on the rumours but that he's got "exciting times ahead".

Taking to his Twitter account, he said: "Never stop doing what you love."

However, Ryan has a busy year ahead of him as not only is he songwriting, but he's also performing on the 'X Factor Live Tour' and is planning his own tour after that.

He said last week: "Looks like I will be doing my own tour after The X Factor Tour! Where do you want me to come."

Ryan isn't the only one to chase after his dreams as Matt Terry - who won the show last year - has been signed to Sony RCA following the success of his single 'When Christmas Comes Around,' which was penned by Ed Sheeran.

Runner-up Saara Aalto, on the other hand, has secured a five-album deal with Sony Music UK and Sony Music Finland and has also been given a song written by Sia.

While wannabe rapper Honey G and 5 After Midnight have landed a deal with Syco.
