The 38-year-old star's alter-ego Jarrod 'Toadie' Rebecchi has recently had his world turned upside by Sindi Watts (Marisa Warrington) who arrived on his doorstep with a baby, Hugo, claiming the youngster is Toadie's following a one-night stand with evil Andrea Somers (Madeleine West).

But the former 'Celebrity Big Brother' star does enjoy "mucking around" on set and acting like a pantomime character.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "The more you can have the audience screaming at the TV going, 'No! Don't do it,' that is fun.

"It's a bit like pantomime really. I do enjoy just turning up to work and mucking around.

"The constant having to get yourself into an emotional state where you're a nervous wreck isn't fun, but the end result of causing mayhem is.

"You do have some kind of psychological effects of it all. You do have these moments where you're just like, 'You know what, I just don't feel like crying my eyes out right now. I don't want to do that again today, thanks very much.'

"There are those moments but at the end of the day that's what I'm getting paid for so 'shut up and do your job.' "

Ryan also admits he misses his former co-star Carla Bonner, who recently departed her role as Steph Scully - who she has played on and off for 19 years - and feels sorry for Toadie that Steph isn't with him throughout the baby drama.

He added: "I miss her, I really do miss having her on set.

"He's going to miss her, especially with all the baby stuff. He'd love to have Steph there."
