The 50-year-old actress currently plays Jenny Connor in the ITV soap, and has said if she could bring back any character to stir up drama on the cobbles, it would be Chloe Newsome’s character Vicky.

Sally is good friends with Chloe so she’d love to work with her again, and also thinks it would be great to see Vicky “revisit her first love” in the form of her ex-husband, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).

Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, she said: "If I could bring back any Corrie character, it would be Vicky Arden.

“Chloe's a really good mate of mine, so personally I'd love her to come back. Vicky was Steve’s first wife, so I don't see any reason why she shouldn't return, and revisit her first love. Imagine how furious Tracy [Barlow, played by Kate Ford] would be!"

Sally’s current storyline sees her character Jenny’s daughter Daisy trying to convince her to end her marriage to husband Johnny – who is currently in prison – when a handsome man checks her out.

And Daisy’s actress Charlotte Jordan has said Daisy just wants the best for her mother, although she insists her “methods are wrong”.

She claimed: "[Daisy] wants Jenny to see that she has options. Daisy thinks Jenny deserves better and she doesn't just have to settle for this. Every time she hears from Johnny she comes back miserable and down and she hates seeing that.

"Don't get me wrong, I think her methods are wrong."

Meanwhile, Sally recently praised soap bosses for focusing on character-led storylines that show off the personalities of everyone in Weatherfield.

She said: “It’s been the real bonus of lockdown. The producers have recognised that, yes, we need action, but we also need to explain who these characters are. And you can’t really shock viewers with guns and hostage situations – they’re so used to seeing that kind of thing on telly. And back when I started, a ‘Corrie’ wedding would happen once every five years, but now we have them once a month.”
