Netflix original shows are really taking the world by storm, causing a lot of conversation and dividing audiences in many different ways. One of the shows that could perhaps be called the most divisive is Sense8 - a science fiction drama series from the Wachowskis and J. Michael Straczynski, which sees eight strangers mentally and emotionally linked.

Exploring themes of sexuality and gender throughout the first season, the show will likely continue to take on such topical subjects whilst also allowing itself to fall back on general themes that are often found within the science fiction genre.

This week, the crew behind the series took to the official Sense8 Twitter account to reveal that the rumoured Christmas special episode will in fact be taking place, with the one-off coming to Netflix on December 23.

Then, just under 6 months later will come 10 brand new episodes and the second season of Sense8, on May 5, 2017. All 10 of those episodes will become instantly available at 12:01 AM PT.

With the Wachowskis and Straczynski already admitting they have a five year story and five seasons mapped out, and the cast signed on for all five seasons, if Netflix continue to ask for more Sense8, it looks like we could be getting it for some time.
