The 39-year-old actress made a deal with her neighbours to let them use her donkeys for the Christmas story in her hometown in Yorkshire - but only if she could play the lead role in the production.

She told The Sun newspaper: "My donkeys have actually been asked to be in the local nativity. I’ve said fine as long as I can play Mary. I always have being an agent to my donkeys to fall back on, if nothing else works out.”

Sheridan - who has seven-month-old Billy with fiance Jamie Horn - shares her home with an array of animals, including her donkeys, two goats, two pigs and six dogs.

Meanwhile, the former 'Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps' star was recently asked to host the BBC's upcoming reality series, 'Pooch Perfect'.

The eight-part series will see Sheridan search for the UK’s Top Dog Stylist, marking the first time she has hosted a prime-time entertainment series.

She said: "This is my first prime-time hosting gig. I can’t believe I got asked to be honest!

"But I am a huge dog lover and the time seemed right. I’d just had my son, Billy, so it was an absolute honour to be asked. I have six dogs already and I was warned not to bring any more home from filming!"

The series will feature 10 pairs of professional dog stylists from across the UK competing in a number of themed challenges to give beloved pets some epic transformations.

Each week, the teams will reveal their creations on the Dogwalk, with judges - including celebrity guests - deliberating over the canine contenders.

The doggy stars will also enjoy the show's special 'Pooch Palace', and viewers will be treated to top tips, fun facts and pampering guides for their own pets.
