A new trailer for the BBC show aired after the final of the Great British Bake Off on Wednesday (26.10.16) night, revealing when Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will return as Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson.

'The Six Thatchers' will be the first of three episodes, which also includes 'The Dying Detective' and a third, as yet unnamed episode.

Speaking recently about the upcoming dramatic fourth season, Benedict hinted that fans might need a break after all of the excitement.

He said: "First and foremost we have got a fourth series for people to watch and understand and when they watch it they might go 'Oh yeah, maybe there does need to be a break now' because of what happens in it. No spoilers!"

And he admitted that fans could have to wait longer than ever before for the next installment after these episodes air.

He said: "I think there will be a lull. I don't think it will be in a year and a half necessarily but we will wait and see and maybe it will be."

And Benedict assured fans that his role as Dr Strange in the Marvel movies will not affect filming on 'Sherlock'.

He said: "Let me put that one straight, that is nothing to do with this.

"They moved the schedule to accommodate Sherlock, there is a lot of mutual love between those two enterprises and there is no reason why one cancels out the other."
