The former 'Coronation Street' actress is still devastated after her brother Brett sadly died from an incurable brain tumour aged 71 last April, after battling pneumonia.

Appearing on Tuesday's episode (23.03.21) of Channel 4's 'Steph's Packed Lunch', she said: "My brother was the most beautiful man ever. I don’t think I can ever get over it…

"I’m here to see Diane because I think I have to have some help. I think sometimes you have to talk to somebody else and see what they see.

"It is like looking in a mirror isn’t it, because when you look in a mirror you see yourself the wrong way round – you never see your face and that is what I think, you’ve got to have someone who can see you.”

Speaking to psychotherapist and former 'Gladiators' star Diane Youdale in an emotional film, Sherrie - who played Maureen Webster on 'Corrie' from 1993 to 1997, before making a brief return in 2006 - opened up on her experience with grief.

She said: “I’ve been in a very strange place, I just cry and cry and cry. That is not a bad thing, I don’t mind crying, but I can’t keep doing it. I can’t find a handle to hold onto.”

Diane noted that everyone deals with grief "differently", and explained that there isn't a "clear-cut cycle" to go through.

Sherrie, 70, then added: "The other thing is that I don’t understand is that I’m not an angry person. I have such an anger inside of me...

"I can often see him; he often walks with me. Sometimes in my living room he’ll be sitting on the other settee. I often say, 'I’m glad no one is here with us or they’ll think I’m potty!' ”

Diane asked if Sherrie gets "a lot of comfort" from feeling that she's near him.

She replied: "Yes it does, but then the other bit comes in where I go ‘oh god he’s not here’ and then I get frightened.”

'Steph's Packed Lunch' airs weekdays at 12.30pm on Channel 4.
