The 58-year-old music mogul would love to do a repeat of 'The X Factor: Battle of the Stars' - which aired across eight episodes in 2006 - and has already got his first recruit.

In an interview with Alison Hammond on 'This Morning', Simon promised the television presenter a spot on the show.

He said: "Remember the celebrity 'X Factor', I would do it again so we're in!"

In a bid to win herself a place on the show, Alison belted out a song but it did little to convince Simon to bring it back.

He joked: "We'll hold it a few years."

However, Simon may have difficultly getting people to star on the show as he sometimes even finds it difficult to get anyone to judge on the show.

He added: "Some years, this is true, we can't get anyone to do the show."

The 'X Factor' final takes place this weekend and Simon is torn between who will win the show, insisting he has "no idea" who out of Rak-Su, Grace Davies and Kevin Davy White will go on to triumph on the show.

He said: "I think we've got three people that could win and should win so it feels as exciting as we've done before. I genuinely don't know what is going to happen."

Meanwhile, fellow judge Sharon Osbourne previously revealed that she think her 'X Factor' finalist Grace will go on to be successful whether she wins the show or not.

She said: "I agree with that. She's gonna perform superbly I know that ... And she's so talented. I mean she's got, honestly, when people say they have hundreds of songs written she really has and she will keep sending me all these different songs and I'm like 'Where do they come from?'"
