The 36-year-old former professional road and track racing cyclist may be used to whizzing around the velodrome but, following his retirement from the sport last year, he's now keen to carve out a career in acting and already has his heart set on the long-running soap after bosses approached him about taking on a part in the past.

He told the Daily Star newspaper: "I'd like an acting role. I got asked to be in 'EastEnders.' A lot of things like that in the past I've turned down because I just didn't have time. But now I've got time on my hands I can do all those sorts of things."

However, for now, the athlete is pre-occupied with his stint on the winter sports show 'The Jump' and is so determined to win that he's been having out-of-hours tuition.

He's also clocked up more hours in training because 11 contestants - excluding himself, Josie Gibson and Kadeena Cox - were wiped out by a stomach bug last week.

Amy Willerton - who stepped in to replace Vogue Williams after she pulled out of the competition due to injury last week - told The Sun newspaper: "We were all slowly getting knocked out. Less and less people were coming to training."

Kadeena and Gareth Thomas have also been forced to change hotel rooms because they are convinced there is a ghost trying to cause havoc for them.

Gareth explained to the publication: "My room was miles away from everyone. So I wanted to move because when I'm hearing these ghost stories I'm sh***ing myself.

"I moved to the middle of the hotel because I felt more surrounded then. I felt safer. The hotel knows. The said there is a ghost."
