Sir Elton John

Elton John will perform on ITV's 'X Factor', despite slamming the show three years prior.

The 'Rocket Man' hitmaker has been persuaded to take to the stage on the ITV programme by judge Sharon Osbourne, who recently admitted the music legend was a fan of her Over 25s category this year, but the 66-year-old singer has previously said he didn't enjoy the series.

Speaking in 2010, he explained: "I'm not a fan of talent shows. I probably wouldn't have lasted if I'd gone on one.

"Also I don't want to be on television. It's become boring, a**e-paralysingly brain crippling.

"TV vaults you to superstardom and then you have to back it up, which is hard. ['X Factor' winners] Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke are at the mercy of the next song they can get."

Meanwhile, 'X Factor' judge Louis Walsh has once again admitted he might be tempted to stay on the show for the next series, despite previously announcing the current season would be his last after 10 years.

When asked about quitting the programme on 'The Jonathan Ross Show' - which airs tomorrow night (26.10.13) - he said: "Well, I said I was. But I'm having so much fun this year I might stay."
