Murder in The Valleys is set to take a forensic look at the biggest ever murder investigation in Welsh history. The Sky Original series looks closer at the Clydach murders, and experts try to make sense of the horrors that occurred.

The upcoming hard-hitting series was filmed over the course of a year, and tells the in-depth story of Wales’ biggest investigation, as well as the resulting consequences.

Murder in The Valleys tells the harrowing tale of one horrendous night in June of 1999, when three generations of one family were brutally murdered in the small village known as Clydach, in South Wales.

For over two decades, and even with the conviction of a local builder, the case has divided the community.

Sources online, such as The Guardian and Wales Online speak of David Morris being convicted of the trio of murders that occurred in 1999; Murder in The Valleys will no doubt dig deeper into his arrest, trial and sentencing in the forthcoming series.

Morris killed Mandy Power, 34, her daughters Katie, 10, and Emily, aged eight, and her 80-year-old mother Doris Dawson, bringing the body count to four.

Today, the police review the evidence related to the 23-year-old case; Murder in The Valleys takes another look at the case that didn’t end with the guilty verdict.

Director of Documentaries and Factual Commissioning at Sky, Poppy Dixon, stated that “The Clydach murders remain one of the largest and most divisive investigations in Welsh history.

“The team at Five Mile Films have meticulously re-examined the case and bring fresh scrutiny to the historic inquiry, in a richly thought-provoking and gripping series”.

Murder in The Valleys is a Sky Original series commissioned by Zai Bennett, Sky’s Managing Director of Content, and Dixon, Director of Documentaries and Factual. The series is produced by Five Mile Films and Filmed and Directed by Tom Barrow, Executive Produced by Nick Mirsky and Series Produced by Owen Phillips.

Murders in The Valley will be available on Sky Crime and NOW on Sunday, February 6th, 2022.
