The 'Murder On The Dancefloor' hitmaker was the first celebrity to be unveiled on the ITV contest, which returned to screens on Boxing Day (26.12.20) for a second series, after wowing the judges and viewers at home with her performance of Dua Lipa’s hit 'Don’t Start Now'.

And the 41-year-old singer-songwriter - who has sons Sonny, 16, Kit, 11, Ray, eight, Jesse, five, and 23-month-old Mickey with husband Richard Jones - admitted she is lucky she didn't take a tumble.

She said: “I was on a platform and couldn’t see too well. I thought I might fall off.”

On having an advantage as a professional singer, she continued: “I felt like a gymnast who had a cool routine with jumps and twists, who then left after their first comedy somersault. But it’s cool.”

Sophie is not surprised that she was the first out because her own son Mickey recognised his parent's voice.

She said: “Even my one-year-old pointed at the telly and shouted ‘Mummy!’ when I started singing in the alien suit.”

The 'Crying at the Discotheque' singer insisted it was a simple task to keep her stint on the show a secret from her friends and family.

She added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It turns out most of my friends and family don’t ask me much about my job after all. It was only down to my own willpower after that.

“The hoodie you wear [backstage] says ‘don’t speak to me’ and quite frankly it’s the best hoodie I’ve ever owned.”

'The Masked Singer' continues on ITV at 7pm on Saturday (02.01.21).
