The 'Stars In Their Eyes' celebrity reboot - which features judges Sheridan Smith and Adam Lambert - will take to the stage as a trio dressed as a singer before one of them makes it through to the final stage.

An insider told The Sun's Bizarre TV column: “Bosses have decided to get the contestants up on stage as a trio. Each trio will be emulating one star. Along with being dressed as them, they will have been given training by creative teams and voice coaches to make sure they’re the best they can be. It is then Sheridan and Adam’s decision as to who will go through to the final.

“Contestants who make it that far will compete again as solo acts in a bid to win a five-figure cash prize. It’s a really fun twist and should make for entertaining viewing. There are no constraints on who can enter, so they could be professionals or total novices.”

The programme will see celebrities take to the stage to perform one of their favourite singer's hits.

ITV is reportedly looking to include Little Mix's Jade Thirwall as the third judge on the singing competition after they were impressed with the star on 'RuPaul's Drag Race UK' and the band's BBC show 'The Search'.

An insider said: "Jade has been earmarked as the perfect third judge for 'Starstruck', and ITV has her in its sights. "After seeing her on 'Drag Race UK', and then as a coach on the band’s own show, 'The Search', the bosses think she is made for the role and they now want to make her one of ITV’s stars.

"Jade is funny, witty and is a seriously talented musician. "So it’s not hard to see why they are so keen to get her to move away from the Beeb."
