The 47-year-old actor had auditioned to play mobster Luca Changretta in the fourth season of the drama show but the part was ultimately given to Adrien Brody.

He revealed: "There was a moment where I was going to do a part in 'Peaky Blinders'. It was a part for an American.

"But it didn't go my way. Adrien ended up doing it."

But despite the snub, Stephen is still a fan of the show.

He added: "I like the show a lot. I just really like the actors and the way that it is written.

"Frankly, I liked the early seasons of it better. But I still watch it and I'm anxious to see how it all wraps up."

And the 'Backbeat' actor also has his eyes on a role in another British TV series.

He is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: "I've done a lot of work in the UK. I like 'The Crown'.But I don't know what I'd play in that."

The 'Embattled' actor recently his out at the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and said he was "embarassed" for Scarlett Johansson for appearing in 'Black Widow'.

Stephen - whose 1998 movie 'Blade' was owned by Marvel - said: "I still hunt out the good s*** because I don’t want to be in 'Black Widow'.

"It looks like garbage to me. It looks like a bad video game. I’m embarrassed for those people. I’m embarrassed for Scarlett!

"I’m sure she got paid five, seven million bucks, but I’m embarrassed for her.

"I don’t want to be in those movies. I really don’t. I’ll find that kid director that’s gonna be the next [Stanley] Kubrick and I’ll act for him instead.”
