Upon its debut last year, Stranger Things would quickly go on to become one of the most successful original series on Netflix. Fast-forward to today, and the appetite for the new batch of episodes that make up season 2 of the show is higher than ever before. With a release right around the corner, Netflix have this week unveiled the final trailer for the second season, which promises just as much, if not more action, suspense and mystery than the first time around. Check it out below:

Taking fans back to the year 1984, we’ll all catch up with the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana once more. Still reeling from the events that occurred when young Will Byers was taken the Upside Down, unveiling the secrets of Hawkins Lab and fighting against the demonic Demogorgon, things seem to have gone back to normal, but not for long!

Now, a bigger and more sinister entity has its sights set on the small town, threatening to take the lives of those who survived the terrors unleashed the first time around. Will seems to be the only person with any chance of taking the new threat on, but with the return of fan-favourite character Eleven, there could be hope for Hawkins and its residents yet…

Stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Cara Buono, Noah Schnapp and Joe Keery all make their return to the series in season 2, with newcomers including Sadie Sink, Dacre Montgomery, Sean Astin and Linnea Berthelsen.

Whilst not much is known about the newcomers’ roles, we do know that each will have a pivotal part to play in the story being told this year. With the Duffer Brothers (creators and writers) previously hinting they have a four-season arc in mind for the series’ entire story to be told, it’ll be interesting to see just which of them, along with which of the originals will make it through to the end.

Stranger Things season 2 comes to Netflix on October 27.
