Despite the news, actor Liam Neeson will not be involved in the project, but original film writer Luc Besson has created the new series and is now looking for a writer and a showrunner.

Following a young Bryan Mills, the show will follow his journey into becoming a man who knows his way around a weapon, and viewers will see him learn his specialist skills ahead of becoming a family man.

Besson executive produces the show with Matthew Gross, Thomas Anargyros and Edouard de Vesinne.

The original Taken movie took $226 million at the global box office, and spawned two sequels which were released in 2012 and 2014, bringing the franchise's total to $928.7 million worldwide.
