Today, the gorgeous trailer for upcoming Netflix limited series, Tales of the City was revealed, showcasing some of the uplifting and emotional scenes we should expect when the show hits the streaming service at the start of June.

Inspired by the books of the same name, by Armistead Maupin, Tales of the City follows Mary Ann (Laura Linney), as she returns to present-day San Francisco. Reunited with her ex-husband Brian (Paul Gross) and her daughter Shawna (Ellen Page), she finds a whole new world has formed since she left 20 years before, in pursuit of a successful career.

Now in the midst of a midlife crisis, Mary Ann is doing her all to escape the picture-perfect life she had in Connecticut, and is quickly drawn back into the world of the charming and mysterious Anna Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis).

Anna is a woman who chooses her family, surrounding herself with queer people that shower one another with love, all whilst living at 28 Barbary Lane.

Tales of the City was originally a PBS television series back in 1993, before being brought back for another visit in 1998, and 2001.

This will be the fourth limited series under the Tales of the City title, and comes from Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International Studios as a production for Netflix.

Lauren Morelli is showrunner and executive producer, alongside director and executive producer Alan Poul, as well as executive producers Armistead Maupin and Laura Linney. Working Title's Andrew Stearn, Liza Chasin, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner also serve as executive producers.

Tales of the City comes to Netflix on Friday June 7, 2019.
