Lena Dunham has confessed that she listened to Taylor Swift's music for inspiration whilst writing hit HBO series Girls.

As the producer and star of the show, Lena says that Taylor's albums are the "soundtrack" to her life, and she's recently become friends with the singer.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight she explained: "Long before she was my friend, she was my friend in my head.

"I was listening to her while I wrote my first film, while I wrote the first season of Girls, while I wrote the second season of Girls - so she's definitely a soundtrack to many of my feelings."

Taylor has hit headlines recently when she released a song called 'Bad Blood' lashing out at an unnamed female pop star that's heavily rumoured to be Katy Perry.

When discussing the track, Taylor said: "I'm surprisingly non-confrontational - you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It's awkward, and I don't like it."

A source close to Katy denies that she deliberately tried to sabotage Taylor's tour.

"They were loyal to Katy when it came time to launch the 'Prism' tour. She didn't steal them. Taylor just employed them when they weren't working for Katy."
