As one of the most popular television shows in history, The Walking Dead should be making all of those involved with it very proud.

One of those men is showrunner Scott Gimple, who's been with the show since 2011 and has helped put together story that has so far been shown on the small screen.

Speaking to ComicBook, Gimple told of how he thinks The Walking Dead will one day become a movie: "That question comes up every now and again. I'm sure one way or another, one day, it'll happen. I think it would be cool."

He also joked about recasting for the movie, saying he'd have "William Shatner as Rick. We'll get Edward James Olmos as Daryl. Hit all the big shows. Matthew Fox as the Governor!"

It'd be interesting to see the transition for the show to the big screen, and whether that would be as the conclusion to the story or as a complete reboot. Fans may not be happy to see all of their favourite characters recast, but if they're looking for more Walking Dead action after the series ends, it could be exactly what they need.

The Walking Dead continues Sundays on AMC in the US and Mondays on FOX in the UK.
