The actor - who was last seen on-screen early in 2020 - has been back on the set of the Australian soap returning a guest stint as Leo Tanaka, the twin brother of Takaya Honda's character David.

A spokesperson told Digital Spy: "We can confirm that Tim Kano is back and has been filming since mid-March in a recurring guest role."

News of the comeback was first revealed when the soap star was pictured filming scenes for the programme - which airs on Channel 5 in the UK - with his cast mates.

However, storyline details regarding his comeback are being kept under wraps until nearer the time.

Tim's character Leo was introduced alongside David back in 2016, and was a Ramsay Street regular until 2019.

He had a number of memorable stories, including his romances with Mishti Sharma (Scarlet Vas), Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly) and Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou).

Back in 2019, the character was seen leaving the area without saying goodbye to anyone.

He admitted he'd helped half-sister Elle Robinson (Pippa Black) sabotage Terese and Paul Robinson's (Stefan Dennis) relationship.

However, Leo was back just three months later in December that year, as his brother needed a kidney transplant following a hit and run.

Although Tim's alter ego wanted to get tested, unfortunately he found out he wasn't a match.

He left again on New Year's Day in 2020, and hasn't been seen since.

Meanwhile, Takaya recently revealed a behind-the-scenes secret to the new opening titles, and his character's appearance in the revamped video includes a subtle difference.

The actor wrote on Twitter: "This is the first time David has had his shirt off on screen since his kidney surgeries, and you may not notice (because it is hard to see) but we made sure he had the scars."

The new opening titles feature David and Aaron Brennan enjoying a walk by the Lassiter's Lake.

And in the scenes, viewers can just make out the scars resulting from the incident in 2019.
