It’s been another exciting week for fans of the small screen. We saw Marvel Studios’ The Falcon and The Winter Soldier come to an end over on streaming service Disney+, but that simply means we’re one step closer to seeing the Tom Hiddleston-led Loki original series on the same platform later this year!

That’s not all that’s been happening however. Here, we’ve brought together the top TV news stories of the week so you can keep up with everything that’s been going on…

With its leading cast fleshed out, HBO original series The Last of Us - based on the critically-acclaimed video game series from Naughty Dog studios - has found its directors. Both Jasmila Žbanić and Ali Abbasi will be sat in the director's chair for the project.

Žbanić has already seen celebration for their latest project Quo vadis Aida, which is up for the Best International Feature Film accolade at this year's Academy Awards. Abbasi also enjoyed a Cannes Film Festival hit with their 2018 release Border.

We already knew that Kantemir Balagov would be directing the pilot episode, with Chernobyl's Johan Renck coming on board, so it looks as though an experienced and talented team is going to try their hardest to make this series a success.

Whether you've read the novel or watched the Christian Bale-led movie, you’ve probably heard of the infamous character Patrick Bateman and the story of American Psycho. If not, then you’re in luck along with the rest of the narrative’s longtime fans, as a television series is now in the works.

Lionsgate Television chairman Kevin Beggs confirmed in an interview with Deadline, that the studio are hoping to move ahead with development on an American Psycho show. Plans to bring it to the small screen have been around since 2013, but various bumps in the road have meant it hasn't yet been done.

Fellow horror junkies: let’s hope that this time round it actually makes it to broadcast!

With returning alumni such as Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Emma Roberts along with new faces including Macaulay Culkin, the tenth season of American Horror Story, subtitled Double Feature, could be one of its most successful yet.

Now, TMZ is reporting that another newbie to the franchise has been added, in the form of the one and only Paris Jackson. Daughter of course to the late Michael Jackson, she has been one to enjoy the spotlight in the past, albeit treading lightly because of her family history and the intrusive nature of American paparazzi and tabloid media.

We’re excited if this news is true to see exactly what she can bring to the table for Ryan Murphy’s horror enterprise.

Dexter revival teaser excites fans

"Nature is calling." So says the new teaser for the upcoming revival of Showtime's much-loved series, Dexter. With a ninth season ready to hit the small screen, fans are hopeful that a return to where everything began will be on the cards, rather than more of what we saw in the extremely divisive eighth season.

Michael C. Hall is of course returning to the titular role, in a bunch of new episodes that will take place a decade after the events of the original series finale. With 10 years behind him and after faking his own death, will we see Dexter Morgan return to his murderous ways? We can only hope.

Though production on the second season of Netflix original series The Witcher - based on the critically-acclaimed video game franchise and original novels - was disrupted multiple times due to the coronavirus pandemic, it will still be making its debut on the streaming platform before the year’s out.

Netflix co-CEO and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos confirmed it'll be here in late 2021, during an investor video for the company's first-quarter financial results. He also said that both the third season of stalker-series You would make its debut, as well as the fourth outing for Karate Kid TV spinoff, Cobra Kai.

With so much fantastic television coming our way, we can’t wait to see what the shows and their respective creative teams have got up their sleeves!
