The former 'Coronation Street' actress and her co-star Bronagh Waugh have been working on the upcoming thriller after production resumed earlier this month, but studio bosses had to shut things down when a member of the team tested positive.

A spokesperson told Mail Online: "There are specific protocols in place for this eventuality which have been implemented and, as a result, filming has recommenced."

Noel Clarke will lead the cast of the upcoming ITV drama, which focuses on a surveillance detective who sets up an investigation into missing primary school teacher Gemma Hillman (Amy Wren) by taking up surveillance in the home of a single mum (Alexandra Roach).

The series will also feature the likes of Sarah Niles, Shannon Murray, Phil Davis, Ian Puleston-Davies, Marcus Garvey and Erin Shanagher.

'Fleabag' director Harry Bradbeer created the show, with 'Silent Witness' writer Ed Whitmore on board.

Lucy Bedford, the head of drama at Tiger Aspect Productions, said the series will be a "compelling, tense, claustrophobic thriller that turns the spotlight on the observer rather than the observed".

She added: "With the incredible Noel Clarke and Alexandra Roach leading the cast, we are extremely excited to be back in production."

Meanwhile Polly Hill - head of ITV - previously said: "It's hard to find a crime series that feels new and fresh, which is why I am delighted to commission 'Viewpoint'.

"Martin, the police surveillance officer watching a community to discover why a local teacher has gone missing, is in Zoe's flat who secretly watches her neighbours because she's lonely.

"The lines between the two and who can and can't spy on us, is beautifully blurred."
