The TV presenter's former partner, cameraman Billy Yates, committed suicide in 2017 after struggling with depression, and Zoe says that the decision to take on the gruelling physical challenge has been inspired by his memory.

She explained: "I lost someone very dear to me who really struggled with depression.

"It was really important that I did something. Thinking of the reason I signed up for this challenging adventure will spur me on."

Zoe is doing the bike ride in aid of Sport Relief, and she is determined to push herself to the limit in order to raise as much money as possible.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Zoe said: "Knowing that every penny we raise will make such a difference to so many different people's lives is a great feeling."

Zoe, 47 - who separated from her husband, DJ Fatboy Slim, in 2016 - previously revealed that Billy's death encouraged her to do more to help people suffering with mental health problems.

The veteran TV star explained: "I was left with lots of questions.

"While we're doing the challenge, we're making a documentary. I'm going to visit projects helping people living with mental illnesses - that can be anything from self-harm, anxiety, depression, bereavement, bullying - all of those issues.

"I have lots of questions about what are we doing? How can we help? How do people find the right help?

"There are some incredible organisations helping people."
