Anthony Ogogo has accused 'Strictly Come Dancing' of pairing him with Oti Mabuse because he's "mixed race".

The Olympic boxer became the second contestant to leave the celebrity dance contest last night after he lost the dance off to chef Ainsley Harriott and he's now spoken of his surprise at being paired with the only "black" professional.

He said: "I did not think that the BBC would put us together because we're black or mixed race. I honestly thought they would spread the minorities around."

The 26-year-old hunk - who admitted he was "gutted" to leave the competition at such an early stage - believes his low profile was to blame for his departure.

He told The Sun newspaper: "I entered the show with probably the smallest fan base, I'm quite young, I'm not a BBC face. I'm not Jeremy Vine."

Meanwhile, Anthony has also claimed it was impossible for him and fellow athlete Iwan Thomas - who was voted out last week - to stand out when there are so many professionally trained dancers taking part.

He explained: "When you're up against Jay McGuiness who's done ballet and Helen George who's done ballet and Peter Andre who's a popstar, it's very hard to compete.

"It's very, very hard for a novice to win the competition.

"I'm one of the few in the competition who's got no dance history, I'm a complete novice."

However, Ogogo is thrilled his mum got to see him appear on the show after she missed out on his bronze medal win at the 2012 Olympics because of a brain haemorrhage.

He said: "It was really tough for me. The doctors said her brain haemorrhage was near fatal.

"I was competing in the 2012 Olympics and to have her so ill was horrible. But she has come out the other side and made a full recovery, which is remarkable.

"I'm so proud of her -- she is a real inspiration."
