The professional dancer and the newsreader wowed the judges on the BBC dance show on Saturday (17.10.15) with their Viennese Waltz to Elvis Presley's 'If I Can Dream'.

After being slated during Movie Week last week and receiving a total score of just 20, the pair were thrilled to get 33 from the panel for their performance on Saturday.

With three eights Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood and a nine from Darcey Bussell, the pair took the top spot, the first time Anton has ever done so.

While Katie and Anton were in first place, there was a four-way tie for second.

Helen George, Kellie Bright, Jamelia and Peter Andre all tied on 32 points.

No doubt Anton and Katie will be thrilled as Katie admitted to being disappointed with how their last dance was received.

She previously said: "Saturday night on Strictly Come Dancing was more than a bit tense.

"My first experience of a Craig tongue lashing, of disappointed looks from Darcey, of shaking heads from Bruno and Len... it's not something I hope to repeat.

"Anton and I had had another highly entertaining week of rehearsals, and though I always suspected that the cha cha cha wasn't going to be my finest hour, I think we were both rather disappointed by how harshly we were judged."
