Claire King says reports she fell ill in Celebrity Big Brother because of Gary Busey's hygiene are "rubbish".
The former 'Emmerdale' and 'Hollyoaks' actress was forced to leave the reality show house earlier this month after suffering from a mystery illness and she's now revealed she contracted colitis after picking up a bug in the house, but insists it has nothing to do with any of the housemates' hygiene or lack thereof.
She explained: "Basically I either picked up a bug or an infection due to my low immunity because of the medication I take for my arthritis.
"My colon got inflamed and I had blood tests done and the doctors decided to take me out of the house ... I thought I was going downstairs to the task room to see him [the doctor] ... and I was bundled straight into a car and taken to hospital ... So I had a few tests and things and they confirmed it was colitis."
The 51-year-old star - who admitted she'd like boxer Audley Harrison to win the series - went on to dismiss rumours that 'Point Break' actor Gary's lack of personal hygiene had anything to do with her diagnosis and claimed US reality star Stephanie Pratt has been exaggerating.
She told BANG Showbiz: "I know there was a lot said about how I picked up a bug from Gary because of his hygiene which is absolutely rubbish and I was gutted to see that."
Quizzed on whether she'd had any problems with people's hygiene, she added: "Not personally, no. I think that was more Stephanie's area really but I've probably taken over a bit now, I'm a bit more aware of germs and things."
