The outspoken star last week called for the format of the BBC One programme to be changed so it could feature either two men or two women dancing together.

Now he has called for former 'X Factor' host Dermot to be in that first all-male coupling.

During an appearance on 'This Morning', Craig said: "It would be wonderful to have Dermot O'Leary as part of one of those teams."

Craig also made a vow that he'd join the panel of 'The X Factor' if show boss Simon Cowell agrees to strut his stuff on the 'Strictly...' dancefloor.

He exclaimed: "I'll say this on national TV, I'll happily swap places, I'll go on the 'X Factor', if Simon Cowell comes on 'Strictly Come Dancing'!"

In his chat with Amanda Holden and Gok Wan on 'This Morning', Craig - who is openly gay - admitted he had hoped TV bosses would bring forward the change in to allow same sex couples, because he thinks it would give the viewers something completely new.

He said: "Oh I agree and I did say this to the press last week that I was rather hoping that we will have in a same sex couple, but I doubt that it will happen this year. Well I would love it to happen this year because it might put a spanner in the works too."
