The 'Call the Midwife' star, who plays nurse Trixie Franklin on the show, is "so excited" to appear on the upcoming 13th series of the BBC One celebrity dance competition.

The 31-year-old actress announced the news by posting a photograph of her legs on Instagram, with the caption: "In honour of joining this year's 'Strictly Come Dancing,' I've got my leg warmers on!"

In a statement, she added: "I know it's going to be a challenge and if I'm honest I'm slightly terrified, but I can't wait to get my tan and sequins on."

Twelve other celebrities, including 'Superstar' hitmaker Jamelia, TV presenter Anita Rani, former 'Coronation Street' actress Georgia May Foote, boxer Anthony Ogogo, 'Mysterious Girl' hitmaker Peter Andre, 'EastEnders' actress Kellie Bright, TV chef Ainsley Harriott, BBC Radio 2 DJ Jeremy Vine, Irish singer Daniel O'Donnell, 'BBC Breakfast' weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, BBC Proms host Katie Derham and The Wanted's Jay McGuinness, were previously announced as part of this year's line-up.

The series is set to kick off next month and the final two contestants will be announced on BBC One's 'The One Show' on Friday (27.08.15).
