Roemary

After a busy weekend in the jungle, we’ve got a wrap up of all that happened on I’m A Celebrity.

IT’S HELEN AGAIN

Helen was yet again voted to undertake the Bush Tucker Trial.  Having already undertaken five, she hadn’t been successful in bringing a single meal back to camp.

The mood in the camp was beginning to change which Helen picked up on.

All of Helen’s starving campmates tried to motivate her, although having had their efforts dashed on all of the other occasions, they really thought they were onto a losing battle.

Ashley said “You’ve eaten crap, you’ve been in the darkness, you’ve seen an ostrich, you’ve had bugs on you, you’ve seen rats.”

Ashley later said “we’re probably being a bit more honest and aggressive because we want her to go out there and win for herself and for us.”

Hugo and Ashley advised Helen “If you come back to camp and say that you’ve failed then everyone will kick off.  You can’t freeze.”

Hugo said in the Bush Telegraph “In the first couple of days it was Helen ooohhhh . . . are you ok poor princess.  I mean it’s rubbish.  To motivate someone, if being nice and softly softly doesn’t work then you’ve got to nail it into them.”

Back in camp David asked Helen if she was nervous.  “Are you feeling the pressure today more that ever?”

“I’m having palpitations” she responded.  “Good” said David.  “It didn’t really matter before.  Now we’re hungry.”

“We’re really hungry now” added Nadine.

Helen said to camp “Can I just say to everyone, I’ve got no choice today.  I’ve got to go in there and get all the stars no matter what I’ve got to do.  “Great attitude” encouraged Rosemary.

Eric said “In your head when you go in there, you think of somebody in here that you like the best, think that first star that’s for him or her.  And then the second, think of someone else, that’s for them.”

In the Bush Telegraph Helen said “I’ve never felt this much pressure before.  Ever and I think the motivation is my campmates as well because there’s been a different aura.  Everyone’s like no, go.  Come on. We’re all starving.”

She continued “Everyone in the camp is really hungry.  These people are my friends and I care about them because I’ve become close to them in the camp and when you’re here, that is all you’ve got.”

“No matter what they’re doing to me I have to do it.”

Charlie commented “Tough love you know.  They say that works with young teenagers so we’ve all shown her a bit of tough love today and hopefully she’s come back with the stars.”

“She’s 22.  She’s not a baby.  In actual fact she’s got to go out and nail this today.  She’s got to think about the team.  She’s got to because everyone’s starving now.”

Helen left camp, but didn’t want anyone to kiss her or make a fuss of her.  “Don’t kiss me or anything like that.  I’ve just got to go.”

“She didn’t want to say goodbye to anyone” said David.  She didn’t want any hugs; she didn’t want any fanfare.  If she’s ever going to do it, she’s walked out with the right mind set today.  She knows what’s at stake.”

Limahl and Charlie accompanied Helen to the Trials area.  “You need to get a grip.  Get in there.  Just do it.” Advised Charlie.

Helen had the final word.  “I just really want this.  I really want the camp to be proud of me.  You know and get a really nice dinner tonight.  I want to get 12 stars.  I really really want this.  I’m determined not to be scared and determined to do it.”

DEADLY DELIVERY

Helen arrived at the Trials area ready and raring to go.  “Feeling good?” asked Dec.

“I want to win.  I want to win 12.  I’m determined” answered Helen

“I’ve got to do this.  There is so much pressure from the camp.  Everybody’s really hungry and I just want to win for myself now” she added.

“Have they piled the pressure on” asked Dec.  “Yeah, I suppose” answered Helen.  When asked what they said, she answered “Basically we’re all starving in the camp.  I just want to win the stars and get it over and done with.  Let’s do it.  I have a total block yesterday but I’ve got myself together and I’m alright.  I just want to do it.”

And when asked if she ‘d go back to camp empty handed she said “I’m not going to do that”.  “I think they’re be pretty angry if you did do that” said Ant.

Helen undertook the Deadly Delivery Trial.  She had to put her head in a Perspex box whilst simultaneously manoeuvring a star across a maze.  When she reached other end, she had to pull a star out of the box with her teeth, which would give her two stars for each box.  Of course, each star was guarded by jungle critters in each box.

Helen pushed her head into the first box which contained mixed lizards.  She moved the star across the maze and pulled the other out of the box with her teeth, earning her first two stars.  “I absolutely sh*t myself” she said but added “Guys I’m so happy.”

The second box contained a cocktail of critters – scorpions, crickets, cockroaches and millipedes.  “I do not want to know what is in it” she told Ant and Dec as once again she moved the star across the course and won the two stars, making a total of four.

In the next box were one of Helen’s particular fears – spiders.  “Oh My God I f*cking hate spiders” she said but stuck her head in and successfully retrieved two stars.

The fourth box contained soldier crabs.  “They could nip a bit” explained  Dec.   But once again, Helen put her head in the box and retrieved the star as a crab crawled up her face and tried to get into her goggles. “How the hell did I get eight stars?” she squealed.

Next up was a box containing 10,000 cockroaches.  They crawled over her face and hair, even escaping and crawling all over the top half of her body.  But she continued and won two more stars for camp.

“Who are you and what have you done with Helen Flanagan “ joked Ant as she put her head in the sixth and final box which contained five carpet pythons.  Once again, she completely the task making a total of 12 stars.  “I’m so happy.  I’ve never been so happy” she shouted jumping up and down.   “I’ve never been so proud of myself ever.  I feel on cloud nine” she added as both Ant and Dec congratulated and hugged her.

12 STARS LATER

After the Trial, Helen was beside herself with excitement and relief.  Crying she said “I can’t believe I got 12.  Oh my God, this is ridiculous.  I’m just so happy.  Honestly I’ve never been so happy.  I’m just really really thrilled I was able to get that.  It’s so stupid.  Honestly I can’t tell you how scared I was and just feel really proud of myself and I felt really proud and happy.  My campmates will be so happy and I can’t wait to go back.”

Meanwhile in camp, discussions were taking place about how many stars Helen might get.   “None” guessed Eric; “Three” said Ashley.  “Who knows.  We’ve been here before haven’t we?” said Charlie.

But David said “There was a little difference to her today though.”

Charlie added: “She knows if she doesn’t do it today people are going to get really pissed off.”

Helen ran in shouting “I got 12.”  The camp all cheered in in amazement.

“I was completely in shock” said Ashley.  “I was flabbergasted.”

Charlie said:”I can’t tell you how happy everybody was.  It couldn’t have come at a better time because at the moment I’m flagging because there’s no food and everything else.”

“We’re going to have a feast” she continued.

David said “I couldn’t believe it.  Everybody was dumbfounded.  Nobody could understand how or why.  Everybody was shocked.”

Colin said “It’s perked us all up.  It means we’re going to be busy this evening because we’re all going to be chopping, scrapping, preparing and peeling.  Obeying the mighty Rosemary who I’m on record as saying I adore.  I think she’s the best thing to happen to this jungle.”

In camp Eric said “I’m taken aback”. “Shaken to your very foundations” added David.  “Discombobulated” added Colin.

And the camp burst into a rendition of “Congratulations!”

HUNGRY HUGO

Mood in camp seemed sombre as they all woke to face another day and food was the topic of conversation.

David  commented, “the team are very, very hungry now.  It’s as hungry as I’ve ever seen the people here.  The people are very unsettled by the lack of food.”

Limahl said, “today is the first day I’m feeling this zap of energy and everyone is despondent if we’re going to get any food.”

Hugo added, “I’m hungry, my stomach’s wasting away, I’m definitely losing weight.”

With a lack of meals won at the previous trials, the camp mates were concerned they were running out of rice, which had become their stable diet over the last few days.

Rosemary took charge and attempted to work out what they had left and commented that they had “loads of beans.”

This prompted Hugo to say, “no one likes f*cking beans.”

A positive Rosemary exclaimed that she could “something with them”

But when Hugo snaps “What?”  Rosemary responded, “your attitude this morning is grumpy and not becoming.  I want you to stop it.”

David later commented in the Bush Telegraph, “Hugo snapped at Rosie. He’s not like that normally, it’s because he’s hungry.  People’s personalities are changing.”

Hugo apologised to Rosemary and his fellow camp mates jokingly mocked his bad mood.

Rosemary said, “If you want me to help you I’ll help you if not, I will not.  Believe me I’m very good at walking away.”

Rosemary later commented in the Bush Telegraph, “Hugo gave me a really hard time. He’s stroppy today.  He’s being a stroppy little spoilt boy

But Hugo later confessed in the Bush Telegraph, “I don’t think people realise, rice, beans and water those are your three flavours and they’re almost flavourless.  It’s not as simplistic as when you’re tired and cranky at home.  It’s much more difficult.”

BOSSY CHEF

Chef, Rosemary enlisted the help of her fellow camp mates as she prepared to put her culinary skills to use.

She told the camp mates to put beans in a bowl, ‘smash them’ up and then roll them into a small balls.

David joked, “smashing is what I do best!”

Whilst Colin said, “Rosemary is brilliantly finding a way of making in inedible, edible and we’re mashing beans and going to make little bean balls.”

As the camp mates followed their instructions, Rosemary adopts her teaching role and continued to bark orders at her camp mates which disgruntled Eric who disliked being “shouted at.”

Rosemary confessed, “I find Eric quite tricky to deal with.  I told him to almost shut up and get on with it because I couldn’t cope with it anymore.  He started to get bored. The problem is they are all lazy.”

As Rosemary continued to vocalise the instructions, Hugo hit back and said, “you’re very bossy in the kitchen.”

He continued, “Please don’t be overly bossy.  I did a very menial task , I’ve done it, I’ve cleaned my dish and I’m getting shouted at.”

Whilst Eric barked, “we’re not a bunch of kids, don’t treat us like it.”

Colin commented, “(there are) too many macho men in there who think being told what to do makes them less of a man instead of just doing it.”

With Rosemary’s dish of bean balls cooked, the camp mates admitted that her dish was very good.

Hugo said, “that tasted bloody delicious, these are the beans which have been our nemeses since we arrived.”

Whilst Eric admitted, “its better than beans anyway.”

Rosemary told her camp mates, “that took a lot of willpower to get through that.”

Nadine then told the chef, “some of us are very grateful indeed.  You are a fantastic dynamic to the group and very grateful you’re here.”

Later Rosemary commented, “you would have thought with me being there they would embrace it with open arms but they sort of fight me.  It’s weird.

LIMAHL’S HAIR

Limahl’s hair routine, left his fellow camp mates bemused.

After wetting his hair, he stood by the fire, repeatedly and brushed it.  When asked by Hugo what he was doing as he’d brushed it “50 times” and it looked “exactly the same.”  Limahl explained that he was in fact “straightening it.”  He then added, “Once I’ve straightened it, I can ruffle it up. My hair is very demanding, it’s not my fault it’s my hair’s fault.”

David later commented, “this guy spends three, four sometimes five hours a day just checking it.  I saw it at one stage, it was 15 minutes looking in the mirror.  The dudes 50 odd, forget about your hair.  Can’t be focusing that much time on your hair there’s too much going on in the world”

As well as a hand mirror, the popstar used the reflection from the telephone box to hone his hair style.

When Nadine suggested that his hair “looked better combed over like it was this morning.”

A defiant Limahl replied,“ I prefer it like this.  I never have it in that style, it’s a half construction look and I wouldn’t normally walk around that long or be in public but with no hairdryer.  The only way to dry my hair straight is to just comb it and leave it.”

BUSH BUDDY REVEAL

Camp mates were dealt a surprise in camp.  They were informed they would have to get into pairs.  The pairs would be tethered together and take part in Bush Buddy challenges.   Over the next four days, they would be competing, with their ‘buddy’ for the chance to avoid the first public vote.

Their rankings from the challenges would provide them with an time advantage in the Bed Bugs challenge, which would be the final Bush Buddy Battle.

The camp mates paired up.

Charlie suggested that she and Linda join together as they “because we’re not bothered about being the first out.”

Nadine, asked Ashley but she had already been asked by Hugo.  After deliberating, Ashley opted to go with Hugo leaving Nadine to pair up with Eric.

The final pairings were:

Limahl and Helen

Charlie and Linda

Ashley and Hugo

Nadine and Eric

Colin and Rosemary

David and Brian

The ‘buddies’ were given coloured bandanas and one side of a heart to wear to distinguish the partnerships.

Colin received a pep talk from Rosemary, who said, “you’re going to be fine.  You’ve got to be determined to get through it for me I know you don’t mind, but you’re with someone who minds.”

David commented on his partnership, “if it was up to me I’d do everything on my own but that’s not the case here so I’ve got to rely on Brian.  I’ve got to go out there and give it a 100%.  Not only am I doing it for myself I’m doing it for Brian.   And that puts a different perspective on it.”

Limahl admitted that whilst it was Helen suggested they ‘buddy up’ she had “turned a corner.  She came back fired up from winning the twelve stars today and she said ‘I can do anything now.’  This is not the same Helen so other camp mates watch out.”

Told that their first challenge was called ‘Making Friends, each pair had to decide which of them would leave the camp to compete in the challenge.  How the buddies do in the challenge will go towards determining which pairs would be excluded from the first public vote off.

The buddies facing the first Bush Buddy challenge were, Colin, Limahl, Charlie, Hugo, Eric and Ashley.

Whilst their buddies had left the camp, the remaining celebrities had to tether themselves to life size cardboard cut outs of their pair.

MAKING  FRIENDS – BUSH BUDDY CHALLENGE

When the celebrities arrived at the challenge they were greeted by five giant puzzles. They would have to each use the 21 blocks to build a complete image of their Bush Buddy.  The blocks, however, were jumbled up and each side has a picture on it.   But only one side had their buddy’s picture on it.  The first celebrity who successfully completed the challenge would also win a night in the jungle den for them and their partner.

As this was a jungle challenge, the celebrities would each be fitted with an electric pulse device which would trigger each time one of their fellow competitors completed their picture.  The celebrities would have to stand in a perspex box filled with jungle critters throughout the challenge.

As the game started, Charlie and Ashley were more distracted by the bugs than the puzzle.

David said, “it’s a bloody nightmare.  It’s so frustrating.  This game it looked more fun than it actually is.”

As the game wore on, Charlie and Ashley muddled their puzzle pieces.  As they tried to figure out what they had done wrong Ashley took a piece by David and claimed it was her.  This prompted the boxer to say she was “sabotaging” the game.

As most of the celebrities were struggling to complete their puzzle, Limahl was the first to complete his which caused the others to receive an electric shock.

Eric then suggested that they all leave together and all quit.  The others agreed which meant that they were void from the game and have no score on the score board.

A chuffed Limahl confessed his secret to the others, he said, “Do you know what really gave me an advantage she’s (Helen) got false tan on so whenever I got saw pale skin I knew it wasn’t her.”

HELEN & LIMAHL ARE BOSOM BUDDIES

Whilst the others were out of the camp, the remaining celebrities sat attached to their Bush Buddies.

Linda commented that “this is the quietest Eric has been.”

Whilst Rosemary found a novel way to use the cardboard cut out of Colin and rested it on the log and sat on it.

When the camp mates returned, a jubilant Helen was thrilled to hear Limahl had won the challenge and it prompted her to apologise for their exchange of words earlier in the week.

Helen said, “I can’t believe how selfish I was on your second day, you know on your first day when I had a go at you.   Even thought they were hurtful things, I can’t believe how selfish I was.  I just wanted to say that.”

STARS FOR CAMP

Helen had won 12 stars for camp which meant that the campmates would eat properly.   Wallaby meat was delivered into the camp and Rosemary set about cooking, methodically dishing out orders as she prepared the meal in military fashion.  She struggled at first but soon got a system going preparing a delicious meal for her campmates.  They ate and celebrated Helen’s success.
