Hoping not to do a Todd Carty when he makes his Dancing On Ice debut, though him flying down the tunnel is his favourite memory from the show’s past, Kem Cetinay is gearing up to try and take home the series’ new trophy when it makes its return. But how will he deal with comments from the judging panel – Jason Gardiner, Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean – if they’re negative?

Speaking ahead of the show’s launch this coming weekend, the Love Island champ admitted: “I’m not very good at taking criticism, my mum and dad say. I’m getting better I think, but I’ll probably be a bit scared of the judges. If they give me criticism, I’ll stand there like a little boy being told off. But I’ll be working myself up, so if they give me criticism I will be going home and analysing it, trying to improve. So in some ways it will help me because it will make me more competitive.”

The reality star also says that he can’t wait to don all of the brilliant costumes associated with the show: “I want more colours, more sequins. I love that type of stuff. If you’re going to do it, you might as well do it properly. I don’t want to wear a basic outfit; I want to be over the top. That’s just the way I am.”

Whether or not the Love Island fans that voted for him to take the win on the ITV2 dating competition will follow him to Dancing on Ice remains to be seen, but we think Kem has a great shot of staying in the competition for some time, no matter his skill level!

Dancing On Ice returns to TV on Sunday, January 7 at 6pm on ITV, hosted again by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
