Fan-favourite Love Island contestant Niall Aslam has departed the villa and left his search for romance behind, with ITV2 citing “personal reasons” for the exit. No other details have been given about his decision to quit the show at this time, but we expect it won’t take too long for more information to emerge.

Fellow Islander Alex tells the group about Niall’s choice, and Georgia – who has been coupled up with Niall ever since she made her way onto the show – was understandable upset by the news.

Speaking in the Beach Hut, she said: “Obviously I was coupled up with him so obviously I came closer to him than most people in here but it wasn’t just that. He was actually my friend, my buddy.”

Alex later said: “I’m obviously sad that Niall’s left the villa. We got on really, really well. He’s such a great guy. And I look forward to catching up with him and having some fun with him outside.”

Tonight’s (June 12) episode of Love Island was always going to be a dramatic one, but the news surrounding Niall has come completely out of the blue.

Viewers can also look forward to seeing the fallout of Adam making a play for Megan, despite being coupled with Rosie following an unsuccessful coupling with former Islander, Kendall.

Speaking to the boys about his connection with Rosie, Adam says: “I think people forget in here that we’re not actually in full-on relationships. Don’t get us wrong, in bed, it’s nice to kiss and cuddle, and I am like that. But not in front of everyone, when we’re outside. She’s [Rosie] probably a little bit more into me, than I am into her, if I’m being brutally honest.”

Fireworks are going to fly! Love Island continues each night (excluding Saturday) on ITV2.
