The former Girls Aloud singer is adamant she'd never step on her ex-band mate Cheryl's toes by taking over as a judge on 'The X Factor' following her shock departure earlier this month but she wouldn't rule out joining the rival show.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, she said: "I don't know if I would take Cheryl's place on 'The X Factor' panel. I would love to stay involved in music one way or another but it's pretty hard work having a job like that and you're open to a lot of scrutiny. I'd cross that bridge if it came to it but I quite like the banter really on 'Britain's Got Talent'.

"It just seems a little bit more entertaining and it just seems friendlier. I like both of them, don't get me wrong, but I just feel like there's a nicer atmosphere on 'BGT.'"

Cheryl shocked the nation a few weeks ago when she announced she was giving up her chair on the nitty-gritty panel alongside big boss Simon Cowell in order to focus on her music career and her relationship with Liam Payne.

The brunette beauty initially joined the ITV show in 2008 until she left in 2010 - during which time she mentored Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry to victory - before returning four years later for another two years.

Meanwhile, it's not just one spot up for grabs on the panel as Nick Grimshaw also stepped down as a judge after just one series because he wants his weekends back.
