The 'All Night Long' hitmaker appeared on the singing competition last weekend to give the semi-finalists - Louisa Johnson, Lauren Murray, Reggie 'N' Bollie and Che Chesterman a masterclass ahead of their performances, and he's confessed he felt like he was watching his own children when they took to the stage.

He said: "I was like the nervous parent because I want them to succeed."

The 66-year-old star - who is father to adopted daughter Nicole Richie, 34, son Miles, 21, and daughter Sofia, 17 - also revealed what advice he gave the young hopefuls.

He told ITV's 'Lorraine': "I said the most important part you [need to] remember is if you don't go out there and have fun, shame on you. Just loosen up, because the crowd never comes to the rehearsal, so whatever you hit just make sure it's strong, no matter what note because they don't know you're supposed to go to that high note, go to the low note, I don't care."

Lauren was voted off the show following her performance on Sunday (06.12.15), leaving Louisa, Reggie 'N' Bollie and Che to battle it out in this weekend's final.
