EastEnders bosses have this week announced that former S Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt will be reprising her role as Kandice for a few episodes later this year. Having made her debut in December, audiences saw Karen Taylor visiting Kandice – her wealthy younger sister – to ask for some money to keep the bailiffs off her back.

Butting heads and being reluctant to save her sister all over again, Kandice eventually gave in and helped Karen out. So why is she making her return to Albert Square? That’s something that’s still being kept under wraps, but we imagine some drama and chaos will follow in her wake.

Spearritt’s return is being marketed as just a swift comeback, with Kandice only apparently returning for what’s being touted as “a few episodes”.

During her first run however, the star caught up with Digital Spy to tell them she would love to become a permanent character on the “iconic” BBC soap.

She said: “I’m in for a short stint at the minute, but if it ended up being something bigger, that’s definitely something I’d be interested in. Kandice is such a fun character to play. She’s really outspoken and abrasive, so she tells it like it is.”

Whether or not Spearritt’s wishes will come true remain to be seen, but she’s clearly impressed show bosses enough to be called back for a second stint!

EastEnders continues throughout the week on BBC One.
