Hollie-Jay Bowes felt as though her 'Hollyoaks' on-screen boyfriend was her real-life lover.
I felt like I had a day boyfriend. I love him and his wife Lisa. He's an amazing lad.
The 21-year-old actress - who played Michaela McQueen in the Channel 4 soap for four years before filming her final scenes in June - has admitted she misses seeing co-star Kent Riley, who plays Zak Ramsey, every day, as she "adores" him.
She explained: "My on-screen boyfriend, Kent Riley, who plays Zak, we've become very close. I adore him to pieces. It's weird not seeing him everyday.
"I felt like I had a day boyfriend. I love him and his wife Lisa. He's an amazing lad. I only left two weeks after him."
Hollie-Jay - who also starred as Dawn O'Malley in CBBC children's show 'Grange Hill' prior to being cast as wild-child Michaela - explained the fact she has left the soap hasn't sunk in yet, but she is ready to move on.
She added to new book 'Hollyoaks - Girl Talk': "It hasn't really sunk in yet. I feel like I'm on holiday a bit. I've been there so long it's like I've come to a sudden stop when I'm chilling out. I'm sure when I'm off-screen, that's when I'll go 'Oh I'm not in it anymore'.
"I did 'Grange Hill' as well for two years before that so I've been there since I was 15 - I am 21 now.
"So it's six years of fun and working in same building. I'm ready to move on now. If you don't leave somewhere you'll be somewhere for ever."
