Hollyoaks finally told viewers exactly who was responsible for the death of Amy Barnes in the First Look episode on E4 earlier tonight (September 4), with Harry Thompson (Parry Glasspool) confirmed to be the one behind the accidental killing.
Managing to keep his secret for five months now, his partner Ste Hay recently discovered that he was responsible after being told the truth by his lawyer James Nightingale, but Ste is selflessly allowing James to sabotage his trial and make sure he goes behind bars so that Harry can remain free.
Speaking about the reveal, Parry admits Harry has been “pretty damn scared”, and says: “He hasn’t been able to sleep and every little thing that happens makes him more nervous and he’s constantly on edge.”
Asked why Harry was at the flat when he killed Amy, Parry replied: “To stop Amy from taking Ste’s kids away, especially when he found out that she was taking them to America – he was definitely not going to let her take them that far away.”
Responding to why James is protecting Harry, he added: “Because he’s got a soft spot for him and he wants Ste to go down for the murder because he slept with John Paul and is bitter. I think it’s a mixture of both – bitterness and his feelings for Harry. He knows it’s a choice between Ste and Harry and he doesn’t think Harry deserves to go to prison.”
Continue to watch the fallout as Hollyoaks continues weekdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with First Look episodes at 7pm on E4.
