Amber Hodgkiss is disappointed her 'child killer' plotline has been cut from 'Hollyoaks'.
I was very honoured to play such a role. Chrissy was a huge character.
She added: I was overjoyed when I got the part. It was my first big role, but hopefully bigger and better things will come. It was great meeting the cast.
The actress was to see her appear in the soap as a schoolfriend of character Loretta Jones, played by Melissa Walton, and reveal the dark secret they had bullied a child to death when they were both 12.
She has defended the plot, which was pulled from the show this week, just before it was aired after Denise Fergus, the mother of murdered toddler James Bulger, lodged a complaint.
Denise told producers she thought the storyline was too close to the death of her son in 1993 at the hands of two 10-year-old boys and that it sympathised with the killers and "turned them into celebrities".
Amber said she was saddened by her scenes being axed, but understands why the decision was made.
She said: "The storyline has been completely cut. I am not so happy about it. I would like it to go ahead, but I don't have that decision. It wasn't based on Jamie Bulger, but people portrayed it that way. It was quite a big storyline that could affect people, but it happens and I am fine.
